How I used Clay to generate 3.5 meetings with only 200 sends.

Shoutout to my new favorite outbound tool.

For months, my brother Max (on our team) has been bugging me to use more AI in my copywriting…

But I resisted.

“I’m a human copywriter. Humans over machines!”

Well, finally…I gave in.

The early results are, well, proof he was right. And I was wrong. Really wrong.

So far we’ve sent 200 emails. Generated 3 meeting requests and 1 upward referral to a CRO. (we’ll call it 3.5)

It’s only been 24 hours.

Here is the copy…

The strategy is simple:

• Hook them with a line about their business (scraped off their website using OpenAI API within Clay)

• Reference a trade around a nice polo from their college (also pulled from Clay, and appended using OpenAI API)

• Reference a local restaurant gift card, instead. This one hasn’t run yet, but should work well. Also found and cleaned using OpenAI API.

Some other tech notes:

• We have our own Prospeo API key plugged in for finding emails

• We built a custom API in Clay to MillionVerifier for email verification

• We did the push button API to SmartLead for faster upload
